9xb invests in Test Engineering function

Developing an eCommerce website carries a weight of responsibility. Central to many critical business processes like commercial transactions, marketing automation, inventory and supply chain management, websites need to be secure and robust, but also customer friendly, with an intuitive user interface and logical buyer journey. Website testing is an essential part of the development of any website. At 9xb, we have been developing websites for leading retailers on our own eCommerce platform for a number of years, so we know a thing or two about best practice processes to ensure smooth project delivery through discovery, production and launch.

With a distribution network fulfilling over 65,000 orders per day, Euro Car Parts relies on 9xb to help customers locate and order parts within seconds; and have them delivered within 30 minutes. With such a level of complexity involved in many of our eCommerce projects, we take testing very seriously, making it an integral part of the development process. From the requirements gathering stage, we devise a test plan for pre-release testing, continually reviewing the site in different browsers and on different devices. In addition our sites undergo functional testing, performance testing, user acceptance testing and security testing throughout production stage. Nothing is left to chance.

Maintaining Quality Assurance standards across all of the websites we develop is crucial, whether that be regular website checks once a new site goes live, or testing new releases to ensure the core stability of our eCommerce platform.

We have recently invested further in this area, recruiting a Test Lead & QA Engineer to oversee our testing function and further develop it to ensure we can continue to meet standards and deliver exceptional websites to our clients.

Sukhjit Bansal brings 9 years of testing experience, in both manual and automation testing, to the role. His varied experience includes setting up new testing departments and giving guidance on how testing should work within an agile framework.

I asked Sukhjit what his future plans were for the testing function at 9xb. “I am delighted to have joined a business with a proven eCommerce platform and focus on driving eCommerce growth through high standards. As we develop the platform and continue to win significant new clients, maintaining exceptional testing standards and procedures in line with the current SDLC is essential. Along with my team, our focus will be using the best testing methodologies available to deliver a high standard of features and functionality to our clients.”
