The use of umbilical cord blood stem cells for medical research and treatments is an area Richard Branson has been personally interested in for many years.
As well as helping people with serious illnesses like leukaemia today, Virgin and many scientists and medical experts believe that these cells could be used to treat a wide range of other conditions, from heart disease to diabetes, in the future. For this reason Virgin have launched their own umbilical cord blood stem cell storage bank to give parents-to-be the opportunity of storing their baby's stem cells and contributing to the development of an international registry unlike other banks.
Virgin Healthbank's existing website had become dated, and was no longer reflective of their offering. The objective of the new site was to showcase the business & proposition in a friendly and informative way to appeal across a number of different target audiences.
Working with our friends at the Wish Agency, 9xb's role was purely technical on this one. Wish led the project and created the look and feel of the new website, designing all aspects of the public areas. The creative was then passed to 9xb and we built the website and tailored content management system.
Accessibility was also a key concern with high standards already set by all Virgin Group websites, it was crucial the new site ticked all the right boxes. Our senior developers carried out the necessary optimisation work to ensure that from an accessibility perspective based on Yahoo performance, the new Virgin Healthbank website was the best performing site in the Virgin Group.
