A leading brand in the world of golf, PING the bespoke golf club manufacturer and clothing company have been developing ground breaking golfing technology since 1959. Indeed PING are credited with providing the modern golfer with outstanding control and helping perfect the best technique for both professionals and amateurs alike. A global sports brand the brand has a wide following and is actively used in over 70 countries across the globe. With direct relationships with some of the greatest players including Lee Westwood, PING are the benchmark in golf excellence and are desired by all golfers from amateurs through to seasoned pro's.

With a globally recognised brand, PING maintain a strong hold on the usage and display of their products and logos. With no direct selling through online channels it's been essential to keep control of how their brand is being showcased online. Indeed it's often copied but never matched by competitors and illegal counterfeiters. An important factor in keeping control has been to manage the relationships with suppliers, the media and third parties whom actively promote the PING brand. Looking to ensure the PING brand is never devalued traditionally the European marketing team have limited access to their collateral.

However looking to increase PING's coverage within the European golf market 9xb we're approached to develop an online resource site that would allow the PING brand to share its logos, brochures, videos and other resources that help promote the brand. With experience in developing tailored business online resources,9xb developed an extranet that efficiently allows PING to upload marketing material and then share it with a controlled database of interested parties. Beyond the resource, the platform allows PING to maintain dialogue with its circle of interest through a news feed and social engagement tools.

Allowing images, videos, pdfs and Microsoft documents to be shared, the new PING European Extranet has opened up the brand to a new audience allowing their marketing material to be shared freely but whilst being carefully monitored.

This is why we decided to set up an online resource centre that would effectively allow all parties access to images, videos, the brand and anything they needed to promote PING. Working with 9xb we scoped out a dedicated portal that allows all customers to easily access our marketing material. We're really pleased with the end result as it allows us to not only share our information but keep our routes to market informed on the latest news and happenings with PING through the social integration and news-board. Chris Bell"The challenge for this extranet was to create something that could handle complex files such as video, pdf, Office documents and then serve them to people that had a varying level of online ability. Trying to keep the management and download functions simple, we developed a simple administration tool using Zend as the framework and then bringing in MySql to manage the database. With a focus on usability, the system developed is clean, easy and rewarding in that it delivers what you need within limited clicks. A great resource and we hope very useful for the user."
