Project: Making the most of Googles innovations
Introduction
You've probably noticed that Google has started to introduce new features to its search results. In addition to the normal 'organic' and PPC results you will now find all sorts of other stuff. And with this comes an opportunity to put your company onto page 1 of Google. In fact, if you do this well your company can appear several times in the search results thereby increasing the opportunity of the browser finding your website. Here are a few examples of how 9xb are working with our clients to keep them one step ahead of the competition.
Google Product Feeds
It's not often that you get the opportunity for a bit of free advertising and that's why Google Products present such a great opportunity. If you run an online store then you'd be crazy not to take advantage it.
Our client operates in a highly competitive market with a rapid product turnover. This online store stocks thousands of products from dozens of different manufacturers, meaning that new lines are introduced on almost a weekly basis. This makes keeping up with stock turnover in less responsive channels such as SEO extremely difficult.
By introducing Google Products as an advertising platform, we have developed a new source of shoppers who are ready to buy, making this free-to-market channel extremely profitable.
The product feed is fully automated, so through the night thousands of products are sent to Google so that the following days advertising is up to date and consistent with the products available on the website. Thereby ensuring the client gains maximum competitive advantage.
By researching their market and optimising their Google product feed accordingly, we were able to increase traffic to their website by nearly 30% in the first month alone - and within 5 months had more than doubled year on year totals. With a commensurate increase in sales, this channel has taken the client to the point where an expansion of their operations is a real possibility despite the wider economic conditions.
Google Maps
If you haven't come across this yet, Google Maps provides street maps, aerial photos, route planning for travel by foot, car, or public transport and a business locator for dozens of countries around the world. Have a quick look at maps.google.co.uk
All of which is very useful if you want to find an address. However, in addition to this there's a set of highly sophisticated developer tools that enable you to display the maps on your own website and do loads of really clever things.
An example of this is the theholidaylet.com website which 9xb recently developed. This website features maps of the UK and Continental Europe and automatically places pins in areas where Holiday Let properties are available. You can then zoom in right down to street level - a fantastic experience for the browser. Read more in our Holiday Let Case Study.
Google Local
As many of our clients now know, where geographic location is important Google Local is a great way to put your company at the top of Google's search results. Watch the video for more:
