On the 4th September 9xb Director Rob Burns hit the water and canoed a 20 miles stretch from Boroughbridge to York to raise money for Harrogate Hospitals Special Care Baby Unit. The Special Care Baby Unit is in urgent need of six new intravenous infusion pumps and Rob joined a team for 20 hardy volunteers to help raise £5,000 in sponsorship to replace the first two units.
Event organiser Kieron McQuade said "Every year we undertake a physical challenge to raise money for a worthy cause and this year we've gone for a nautical theme. The Special Care Baby Unit at Harrogate Hospital provides an indispensible service caring for sick and premature babies and we hope to raise £5,000 to buy two intravenous infusion pumps which are in desperate need of replacement. It’s not going to be easy but with good luck and a tail wind, we hope to complete the 20 miles in around 9 hours. Fundraising's underway and we're doing everything possible to reach our target"
