As concerns about childhood obesity and junk food diets continue to dominate the headlines, we've used our creative powers to help spread the healthy eating message to schoolchildren.
We've been working with Purely Nutrition Ltd, a Harrogate based consultancy specialising in incorporating healthy eating and physical activity messages into everyday life.
The team at 9xb.com designed and built a website for PhunkyFoods.co.uk, a subsidiary of Purely Nutrition focused on healthy eating and exercise in schools.
PhunkyFoods is a 39-week rolling programme of healthy eating and physical activity lessons for every year group in primary school, which builds year-on-year in to a full six-year programme of work.
The recently-launched website includes sample lesson plans for teachers, and a bright and colourful Kids' Area featuring puzzles and competitions.
So impressed was Purely Nutrition with the PhunkyFoods site that they recommended us to the School Food Trust, which was looking for a web development company to create an online training section within its existing website.
The School Food Trust was set up by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) to promote the education and health of children and young people by improving the quality of food supplied and consumed in schools.
The new online training area designed by 9xb.com includes lesson plans covering Key Stage 1-4, sample menu cards and leaflets for parents and carers.
Our marketing manager Emma Sharman said: "The headlines about childhood obesity and poor school meals give all of us cause for concern, and we are pleased to be involved with spreading the healthy diet and exercise message to children, parents and teachers alike."
Here's hoping her own two kids don't read this...
