Lloyds approached 9xb, with a very dated site, looking to create one that would more effectively portray what it is they do and generate more leads.
Up against thousands of other communications companies on the web, the key to differentiation was to give the site more personality, offer some insight to the team and position Lloyds as more approachable than most - after all, people buy from people. With customers ranging from IT Directors to office managers, the information on the site needed to work across various levels, providing the relevant detail for the technical savvy but communicating it in an easy to digest way and using plain English for the rest of us!
"I guess we all slip into industry jargon without realising it but it's one of the first pieces of advice I give any client is to think about your target audience and talk their language, not yours - and especially if, like Lloyds, what you do is technical. I find talking to clients informally about what they do provides a much better understanding of their business than hearing or reading their well thought out (and probably very expensively produced) marketing spiel. We then translate what works when they're selling face to face to the online environment, incorporating this into the design, content and tone of their site."
Emma Sharman, Marketing Consultant
"The site is designed to help the browser quickly and easily find what they're looking for rather than allowing them to get lost in the plethora of technical jargon so many communications companies rather ironically put on their sites. The site is segmented into potential needs, clearly demonstrating Lloyd's services but focusing on the benefit to the customer. Clear calls to action are positioned throughout the site encouraging people to get in touch and to offer reassurance that Lloyds approachable and helpful."
