The Client
Established in 1974, Lee & Plumpton are a long standing, family run business with an excellent reputation for quality and service alike. Well known & respected in the industry, they are now one of the UK's leading office furniture manufacturers with wholesale customers throughout the UK.
All the office furniture produced is designed and manufactured in the UK at the company's 200,000 square foot factory, whilst a fleet of Lee & Plumpton lorries ensure furniture is delivered on time.
Being around for so long means L & P have been able to continually refine their manufacturing processes to ensure all products are quality checked and built to the highest possible standards. So confident of this quality, they offer customers a 10 year guarantee on all stocked ranges.
Lee & Plumpton, were in need of a new digital strategy to take their long standing business forward online and remain one step ahead of their competitors. The existing website had become tired and out of date, it was text heavy and lacked any real focus for achieving L & P's goals, not just attracting new customers but servicing their loyal clients.
For this reason the website scoping phase targeted both of these objectives, in planning the promotional & product sales areas of the website and also the password protected dealer log in area. Dealers are now able to log in with their secure password to access a wealth of useful information and sales collateral. Not only this, but a new quote tool has been launched, enabling quotes to be built, populating product data automatically - making life easier for dealers and also the L & P sales support team!
On top of this, the website now provides the right impression of the business, oozing quality and high standards by presenting all products in the best light possible and the company in a clear and open manner, for example the team page and the factory tour section.
"It was a bit of trek down to Lee & Plumpton so I was delighted we were chosen to work with them! It's always hugely satisfying to work with a big company who have a failing website as the results are so extensive when we create a new website for them. In this case, the new site is so much more functional, enabling L & P customers to interact with it and 'use' it, as a marketing tool to aid their own business - so much more than a simple brochure about their business. The project has been a challenging one, with many different features and functionality to introduce, including online ordering which is a dramatic leap forward for the business and will provide a strong platform going forward to further enhance this."
"The development of the website complete, we now turn our attentions to the online marketing. Again, with the old site underperforming so much, there is a significant opportunity to drive interest and enquiries through the new website, achieving a substantial return on their investment!"
Chris Kell, Account Director.
"As is now so often the case, the scoping exercise highlighted a need for a content management system with tiered admin access, enabling various departments to supply and manage content for the L & P website. Built upon the zend framework, we created a tailored management area that includes multiple user roles, and a content workflow system for management of the live & draft website content, approval and publishing. Lee & Plumpton have a large and in terms of programming, complex product database and this proved the biggest challenge of the project, making it easy for customers to view and L & P to manage the ranges. The dealer area should be an invaluable resource for our client's customers with a great deal of useful components."
Mike van Rooyen, Developer.
"The first thing that struck me in preparing the website creative was the powerful images, both real and CGI, that Lee & Plumpton had at their disposal. Whilst the old website was failing to present these, it was also looking dated and really didn't sell all the strong differentiators between L & P and their competitors. Getting to work, we eventually produced a design that does all of that, from the home page animation and calls to action, through to the product range and individual product pages. At the same time, we also wanted a very clean, clear design and I think the final product has achieved this."
Jay Heaviside, Designer.
