Marks and Spencer need little introduction; it's a national treasure that has survived recession, depression and even world wars in its 126 year history. Beginning as a penny bazaar in Leeds, Marks and Spencer now has retail outlets globally selling quality clothing, food and homewares.
The retailers 'Plan A' initiative, aims to help tackle climate change, reduce waste, trade ethically, use sustainable raw materials and help their customers to live healthier lives. So, they've launched a website to give customers clear information and tools, and also support their healthy products, such as the Simply Fuller Longer range.
9xb first started working with M&S back in 2009 and we’re delighted that they’ve just renewed their contract with us for another year.
With the new product range front of mind, Marks and Spencer approached 9xb with the brief of developing a comprehensive website dedicated to healthy living. Packed with advice, information, hints and tips it also features interactive healthy eating tools such as a BMI calculator, weight tracker, alcohol calculator and personalised diet plans. Along with details of each of Marks and Spencer’s healthy eating food ranges including Simply Fuller Longer, Eat Well, Count On Us and Kids Food.
And what about this for a deadline? We were given just a few weeks to build the website ready for launch in a national TV advertising campaign, scheduled to help M&S customers with their post Christmas health drive.
There was no time for a soft launch with this project. The roll out plan was meticulous ready for a prime time national TV advertising campaign on the day of launch. The 9xb and Marks and Spencer project teams rallied together and pulled out all the stops to ensure the website was completed, fully tested and underwent a stringent security audit before being unveiled to the waiting public. And once the TV ad’s hit, the site was visited by thousands of visitors instantly and it passed the test with flying colours.
And here’s what M&S’s Online Customer Experience Manager had to say, “You responded well to our brief, you challenged the M&S team at the right time and you offered solutions to problems. You were a pleasure to work with each day, always remaining calm which is great given our tight timelines and given the amount of people you had to take direction from”
