The Client
Consisting of the Alhambra Theatre, St George's Hall and the Alhambra Studio, Bradford Theatres boast some of the country's leading entertainment venues. The Alhambra Theatre is regarded as the North's premier touring venue and hosts the best in large scale entertainment from ballet and opera to variety and comedy, musicals, drama and Yorkshire's biggest panto.
St. George's Hall is renowned for exceptional acoustics and an intimate atmosphere. The venue seats over 1,500 people and is a popular choice for bands at the cutting edge of British music and the cream of comedy. The venue hosts one of the UKs longest running Orchestral Seasons, with the Hallé as resident orchestra. The hall also attracts big names in variety entertainment and receives regular children's shows and amateur productions.
The Studio offers a flexible space for performance, exhibitions, meetings, conferences, wedding receptions, private parties and themed events. It is also the home of Bag of Quips, it's very own monthly comedy club.
Bradford Theatres’ existing website was delivering a credible level of traffic and conversions, but there was a need for the website to offer a much improved online experience to its entire target audience.
Bradford Theatres recognised an opportunity to develop a website that would embrace the online channel and engage fully with their target audience. The new website brings to life each of the Bradford Theatres individual venues, showcasing what makes them so special and making people want to be a part of it. Integrating the latest advancements in social media online marketing that Bradford Theatres have embraced, the site is now a key tool in Bradford Theatres communications strategy.
With many of the shows in huge demand, Bradford Theatres need to keep in regular contact with their customer base to keep them up to date with news on shows, awards and events. 9xb have worked with the theatre’s marketing team to develop an email studio to deliver this information direct to their subscribers in-box, in a timely and cost effective way.
"Working with some of the most recognised venues in the country was a real honour and a unique challenge it was essential to bring them to life online. From the off the client had a thorough understanding of the direction of their website, working with them the team at 9xb helped shaped the ideas and interpret how they could be showcased online. Throughout we considered the core messages of effectively promoting events and putting forward the long tradition and history of the venues. With these in mind the creative team presented a modern, minimalist approach that focussed on the shows, whilst subtly adopting hints of Bradford Theatres past."
"The development of the website featured social networking and multimedia throughout, with large volumes of traffic visiting the website each day it was essential to create a presence that encouraged interaction and people to become brand ambassadors through social networks. Further to this we carefully built the site to adopt the latest accessibility standards, ensuring all visitors could gain the most from their experience. Overall we were honoured to work with Bradford Theatres and very pleased that the new website has successfully captured the true essence of the events and venues, ensuring the show will go on and on!"
Gyles Seward, Account Director
"The client required a content management system to allow various departments to supply and manage content for their website. We delivered a powerful management area that features multiple user roles, and a content workflow system for content submission, approval and publishing. Their huge events database also takes advantage of this approval system, allowing them total control over their website. News, events and other media feeds are provided to allow third-parties around the world to consume and publish Bradford Theatres' latest events on their own websites."
Martin Hughes, Developer
"Without any consistent online branding across the venues, the aim was to create a modern contemporary look and feel that would work for each of the theatres. Focusing on the events and acts we developed the page layout around the high quality promotional photography. A key element of this project was to feature the community element in the form of visitor reviews and social media and this has been carefully worked into the creative."
