The Death Knell For SEO? Not A Chance

There’s a lot of speculation at the moment about the potential ‘death’ of SEO. As a digital agency that uses SEO techniques every day, we feel we’re in a pretty sound position to be able to vent our views on this one. In a nutshell, SEO is not dead, and the future of it looks rosier than people make out…

There will always be the Internet bloggers and deep thinkers that claim SEO is dying, but one has to question if their views are based on genuine facts or pure ignorance. Considering that there’s no hard evidence out there to suggest SEO is dead, or is indeed dying, we’re pretty sure its just ignorance towards the concept of SEO and the benefits it brings to online businesses all around the world.

Obviously, we have to be able to back up our statement that this isn’t the end of SEO, so here are the top 3 reasons why its here to stay for the foreseeable future:

The web keeps developing – thinking logically about this, if the Internet keeps expanding at the rate it is, there’s going to be an increased demand for people to secure a more prominent online presence. More websites means more competition in the rankings and its not as if Google is suddenly going to say “its ok everyone, there’s enough room for all of you on the first page of the SERPs”.

SEO; its just the tip of the iceberg – SEO has changed dramatically over the last decade, and things that were once thought of as ‘good’ back in the day have now been analysed in more depth by the SEO professionals and proved to be a complete waste of time. Over the last 3 years or so, however, we have really started to see SEO advancements that people are now reading and saying “oh, that works!”. There’s no question that there’s more to come from SEO, and we’ve only reached the tip of the iceberg in many respects. Who knows what tactics and techniques are still yet to be discovered…

People love it too much – another reason why SEO is not dead is because people love it far too much to give it up and leave it by the wayside. There are individuals out there that have been researching and digging deeper in the world of SEO for many years, so there is no sign of this ever changing. If the people who use SEO aren’t prepared to give it up, then those who say “SEO is dead” are going to have a struggle on their hands convincing hardcore SEO specialists otherwise. Safe to say, SEO isn’t going anywhere, apart from ‘up’. The sky is still the limit with making SEO work for you.

Next time you hear someone insinuate the death knell for SEO, kindly inform them that they are very much mistaken, and they’re either trying to justify not doing it or they don’t have a clue what it is anyway.
