My Work Experience
James Baker has been on his Work Experience here at 9xb for two weeks.

I’ve been at 9xb for the last two weeks on my Work Experience and I have enjoyed every day of it!
9xb has given me a real experience of what it’s like to be a web designer/developer by giving me a mock brief for a fictitious circuit board selling company called ‘Sub Assembly’ and I was given two weeks to make a fully functioning website for them.
I began by designing the ‘Sub Assembly’ logo and visuals on Photoshop (with some help and tips from Christian and Gary). I found designing the website a lot of fun because it allowed me to be extremely creative and work independently to a deadline.
Once the visuals had been approved I began programming the site on Dreamweaver using html, css and php. Because I had done very little programming this was all completely new to me, but I feel that I learnt a lot (this time with the help of Mike and Beeley) and I am now confident that I could make a basic site by myself.
But this isn’t everything I did during my two weeks; I still had a couple of Work Experience style jobs such as resizing images. But I wasn’t required to make tea or coffee at all! I also really enjoyed getting involved in Zend Day which gave me an amazing chance to see the full process of making a website in just one day.
Throughout my two weeks everyone at 9xb has been really nice, easy to talk to and willing to answer any of my questions. The very relaxed atmosphere meant that I settled in really easily and have had a great experience of work.

Ah, brings me back to Summer 2006 when I had my Work Experience with 9XB. I was shown a few very useful techniques in website design at visual stages which I still use today, having left school and continued my career into corporate branding, website creation and online marketing. Thanks guys, good work James, and good luck with your future! Ricky Bailey.
