Is Something Afoot At Google HQ….What’s All This Google Live Search Palaver?

Google are constantly springing surprises on the unsuspecting public in relation to the functionality of their all powerful search engine and, as is often the case, they have left Google users a little perplexed with their latest antics.

Anyone with an interest in search engine optimisation will invariably sit up and take interest when Google unleash a new logo on their search engine homepage which doesn’t immediately have an explanation as to what it is supposed to mean or represent. Well, they certainly did this recently (twice in two days, in fact) which has set tongues wagging at digital agency firms and throughout the internet as a whole as to what the new logos on their search engine page may mean.

Trust Google to get people flocking to their search engine by changing their logo…..haven’t they already got enough search traffic!?

Google has such an authority in the world of search engines and any search engine optimisation firm worth their salt will try to keep pace with the latest tricks, updates and algorithms that come out of Google HQ - but this is certainly something that is considerably easier said than it is done such is their dedication to continually tailoring their search results to their users needs.

OK - So, what have Google done to turn heads now?

Well, if you head on over to Google.com, you will see for yourself. You will be greeted by a fairly lifeless looking, grey version of the standard Google logo but once you begin typing your search term, it starts to revert to colour to coincide with your typing. A Google Live Search may never be the same again if rumours are to believed.

This initially caused many raised eyebrows as to its possible reasoning but many in the know when it comes to SEO and the general workings of Google believe that they may have got it sussed. One SEO blog that I stumbled across is of the opinion that the new Google logo can be attributed to heralding in a new form of search that Google intend to offer…

** DRUM ROLL PLEASE **

Google Live Search anyone? What this means is that as you type your search query into Google, the actual results below will begin to change dynamically as it hones in on the search term you are typing. This is a fairly impressive step for Google and shows both the power of broadband speeds and the dedication of the search engine colossus when it comes to innovating and analysing how people interact with the internet.

It really shouldn’t come as a surprise that Google chose to generate a buzz about their revolutionary new search device with a change of logo because, from experience, they know just how much attention is paid to their logo designs and how much traffic stems from even the most rudimentary of changes. Just some of the most recent memorable Google logo changes include:
