Google’s Search Volumes Now Available

15th July 2008

Finally, Google have released the holy grail of information - the number of searches performed on each keyword. This long-awaited update will be a godsend to many an SEO. Right?

Well, sort of. Google’s keyword tool always let you see search volumes by proportion so you could already tell which keywords brought the most traffic. Even with these new numbers you still need to use your own common sense to choose the right ones. A high-traffic keyword isn’t always the best one and that fact remains even now.

Having said that, we’ll certainly have an easier time estimating how much traffic we can achieve for our clients. Everyone in business loves figures so we welcome being able to pass on this information. It remains to be seen how accurate it is, but rest assured we’ll be checking!

This is great for traffic estimation, that being said, i have noticed that for a long time some of the search volumes on a local level tend to me misrepresented in the keyword tool.
