Get Your Website Ready for Christmas!
No really. Just bear with me on this one.
It may only be March and perhaps you’ve only just sweated out your Christmas and New Year hangover, but this really is a good time to start thinking about your website’s Christmas strategy.
Why?
It comes down to our old friend search engine optimisation (OK you don’t know what that means, don’t worry I won’t tell anyone). To cut a long and frankly dull story short, if you want to sell, say glass hammers, and you know most of your business occurs between October and January, you’d better make sure that anyone searching for "glass hammers" on Google can find your website come this September.
This means you need to be somewhere near the top of the results and at least on the first-page or you might find yourself left with a warehouse full of your glass hammers.
Easy right? Just make a phone call to those intelligent and good-looking gurus at 9xb in August and Robert’s my father’s brother? Erm… sorry, it’s not quite that easy actually.
If you want your website to appear in the ’organic’ listings of Google (the free area) then start thinking about it now! To get high rankings for the keywords that are going to drive sales for you will often take at least 3 to 6 months of hard graft on our part. In more competitive markets you can probably double that and maybe double it again (how long is a piece of string?)
So, if Christmas is your business’ key trading period, start thinking about it now and drop us a line before it’s too late.
What do I do if I’m only reading this in August?
After putting a note in your diary not to make the same mistake again next year, give us call now and we can assess the other options for you. A top-notch Google Adwords advertising campaign set-up and managed by us may just ensure that you make the sales you need.
Notes about glass hammers.
I was of course making a weak joke about glass hammers, however it would appear that there is a thriving industry out there…
