UK SEARCH ENGINE MARKET SHARES: MAY 2007

Hitwise have just announced revised statistics of the UK market shares of search engines.

I don't think we've got these stats anywhere so I thought it would be worth re-publishing.

Share of UK Searches by Search Engine

Google - 78%* (up 3%**)

Yahoo - 8.6% (up 13%)

MSN - 5.5% (down 25%)

Ask - 5% (down 2%)

*In the 4 weeks prior to 26th May 2007
**Year on year change.

By the way, these stats from Hitwise are about as accurate as you can get.

Today's Moral

Google still dominates and will do for the forseeable future unless something dramatic happens. Like it or not (I don't mind, it makes my job a bit easier!) you must make Google your primary target to get the significant traffic that your business needs.
